Cork city Wi-Fi Internet access
Europe's largest Wi-Fi network
Cork City Council have announced a next generation self configuring
mesh based wi-fi internet access network which provides wireless
internet connectivity for laptops, PDAs and other compatible equipment
in the city centre. The system allows users to roam within the
city centre area without having to reconnect as they move about.
The system is connected to a 54 Mbits/sec backbone and each user's
bandwidth is uncontented.
The system is connected to the Cork
Metropolitan Area Network (CMAN) to provide backhaul to the internet.
