Home Country Direct calling
This service allows one to call an operator in your home country, toll
free and complete your call on a collect or chargecard basis depending on
your home company's policies. No coin deposit or smart card required at
payphones in Ireland to call 1-800 toll-free numbers (nor for 0800 / 0500
numbers in NI).
Some payphone operators block calls to HCD numbers. Not all
carriers accept calls from Irish payphones because the 1800 tariff from a
payphone is higher than from a regular line.
